About The Lavender Mouse

The Lavender Mouse is a concept trilogy album series written, arranged, and performed by Acacia Carr during 2020-2021.

The Simulation, the first album in the trilogy, is Acacia’s 2nd album since The Interface which was released on SoundCloud in 2019. This new album also represents the first full length album to feature Acacia’s lyrics, vocals, and on electric guitar as in the title track The Simulation.

Produced and distributed on Acacia’s new music label Mythic Rhythmic, The Simulation was released on July 27th, 2021. It is now available for streaming and/or purchase on Spotify, Tidal, iTunes, Apple Music, Pandora, iHeartRadio and on Beatport for DJs.

The concept behind “The Lavender Mouse” is that of an alternate timeline in which a single mouse retains the entire memory of humanity in a nano chip in its brain. In this somewhat dystopian alternate timeline, the past and the future become constantly intermingled. L33ta is a girl in her mid-twenties who cares for the mouse since the untimely and suspicious passing of her employer and mentor, a scientist obsessed with recreating Earth as we know it from the mouse’s memories.

At night, the mouse-a Lavender Mouse-communicates with the girl via her dreams. She sees other timelines and hears music from every era and genre. During the day she spends her time tracking down the evil entity that assassinated the scientist. She tries to recreate the images and the music she has heard in these dream worlds. She struggles in her search for truth. So the songs from this album are echoes from another time and place, yet they are also very of the moment.

The 2nd album in the Trilogy—Lunaversal—represents a turn toward more challenging subject matter in which Acacia sings about addiction, out of body experiences, broken hearts, anxiety, and the Supernatural.

New Wave, Trip Hop, Synthwave, House, and Trance influences as well as Vangelis’ like moods can be felt in this album. And yet, the result is an entirely unique sonic landscape, unable and unwilling to fit into any specific genre or era.

Lunaversal will be released on October 31st, 2021, and features the sexy new synth heavy song, “Karaoke Secrets”. Moody, introspective and soaked in neon, “Karaoke Secrets” paints a portrait of late nights, city life, and memories scented with jasmine.

A single figure sits at the back of the karaoke bar, looking for the kind of redemption that one can only find on nights like these. A familiar song plays on the karaoke machine. Another figure enters the bar. As it turns out, the night is just beginning.

“Karaoke Secrets” was released via my indie label Mythic Rhythmic on September 17th, 2021.
